Career Confidence: Empowering Abilities, Enabling Success
Join Student Accessibility Services (SAS), in collaboration with the Canadian Council on Rehabilitation and Work (CCRW), for National AccessAbility Week (NAAW). This empowering week of panel discussions, networking opportunities and VR-powered soft skills workshops will prepare you to enter the working world with confidence. Learn how to advocate for your accessibility and inclusion in the workplace by building practical skills, meeting industry experts and connecting with potential employers.
National AccessAbility Week celebrates the contributions of people with disabilities and looks to break down barriers to create more inclusive spaces—especially in the workplace. This year, Student Accessibility Services is teaming up with the Canadian Council on Rehabilitation and Work (CCRW) to host a week of events designed to help York students confidently navigate their career path.

Events are open to all York community members.
Event Highlights
Join students, faculty, staff, employers and community partners for a week of in-person and virtual activities that will empower students to advocate for workplace accessibility, raise awareness around inclusion and celebrate successes.
All sessions will have ASL interpreters and all virtual sessions will have closed captioning. If you have any questions about event accessibility, or would like to request additional accommodations, please reach out to Angela Lecompte for assistance.

Empowering Access: Career Resource Fair and Panel Discussion
Date: May 27 | Time: 11:30am – 3:30pm | Format: In-person (tabling, VR demos and panel)
Location: Founders Assembly Hall (152 Founders College)
We’re excited to host the Career Resource Fair and Panel Discussion in partnership with the Canadian Council on Rehabilitation and Work (CCRW). This event aims to promote accessibility and inclusion in the workforce by connecting students, community members and employers in creating supportive work environments. CCRW will also be running Virtual reality (VR) demos of workplace accommodation and disclosure scenarios.
Accessible Leadership: Disclosure and Advocating for Disability Inclusion in the Workplace
Date: May 28 | Time: 1 - 2pm | Format: Virtual
This session is for industry leaders who are looking to increase their disability confidence. Attendees will learn about trends as it pertains to disability and work across Canada. You will also learn best practices for when a member of your team discloses they have a disability and ways you can advocate for greater disability inclusion in the workplace.


Building your path: Post-secondary pathways to rewarding careers for students with disabilities
Date: May 29 | Time: 1 - 2pm | Format: Virtual
This virtual webinar aims to provide post-secondary students with valuable insights to help you manage the school-to-work transition, plan and develop your careers and navigate the complex topics of workplace accommodations and disclosure. CCRW will also share data and insights highlighting intersectional considerations for post-secondary students with disabilities, emphasizing the need for tailored supports and resources.
About the Canadian Council on Rehabilitation and Work (CCRW)
The Canadian Council on Rehabilitation and Work (CCRW) is a non-profit organization dedicated to easing the transition into the workforce for people with disabilities. CCRW provides a range of services including job search assistance, workshops and employment opportunities. They also offer incentives for employers to hire students with disabilities and spearhead initiatives that focus on disability awareness, autism alliance and National AccessAbility Week.
