Congratulations to all our newly admitted mature and transfer students! Whether you're coming to university for the first time or returning after time away, you can ease your transition to York by attending Orientation.

We know that your experience at York will be unique, which is why we offer tailored orientation sessions to help you settle into life at university.

What is Orientation?

Orientation events and sessions usually happen at the start of the fall and winter term. It’s an opportunity for you to connect with other students, explore York’s campuses and learn about university services.

Resiliency, Resources & Reflection: Navigating University Life as a Mature Student

Join us on this transformative journey, where we empower you to thrive as a mature student! This orientation session focuses on building resilience and thriving strategies specifically tailored for mature students.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Learn Diana Brecher’s 5-factor model of resilience and how it contributes to flourishing as a mature student.
  2. Discover various campus resources that support your well-being and academic success.
  3. Explore positive reflection techniques to enhance resilience and personal growth. Learn how to seamlessly integrate resilience & resources into your university life.

In-person session: Wednesday August 14th, 2024 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Location: TBC

Registration begins at 5:30 p.m.

Online session via Zoom: Tuesday August 20th, 2024 5:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.

Transfer Student Success at York: Issues, Strategies, and Resources

Join us to explore strategies for Transfer Student success at York! 

This orientation session will highlight the issues transfer students face as they transition to university, explore strategies for transfer student success, and provide an overview of campus resources that can support academic and personal success at York. 

Learning Outcomes

  1. Learn about the prevailing issues faced by transfer students  

  1. Apply a range of strategies to support your academic and personal success 

  1. Identify a range of campus resources that will support their well-being and success at York 

In-person session: Wednesday, August 21, 2024, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
