Tell us what has helped you learn and grow and how we can improve your experience by completing the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE). NSSE (pronounced "Nessie") provides participating post-secondary institutions with actionable information that can be used to enhance your academic experience and improve student engagement.
Results from surveys administered at York are used to help direct university priorities, launch new initiatives, improve your learning experience and find new ways to support your success in and out of the classroom.

Improvements to Academic Advising
Students like you used NSSE to say that academic advising was a priority. In response, we upgraded our websites, booking systems and operations to ensure academic advising was easier to access and reduce the number of times students had to tell their story.
Support for Mental Health and Wellness
Data collected from NSSE and the Canadian Campus Wellbeing Survey have informed the expansion and launch of various health and wellness initiatives at York, like improved health education resources and food access support.
Access to Career Supports
Previous NSSE results showed that students wanted better access to career services, so we launched the Career Lounge and the Becoming YU program, as well as targeted career development workshops and programming.
Participating in NSSE
The survey will run from March 3 to April 3, 2026. York students in their first and final year of study are eligible to take the survey, with a few exceptions. Look for an email from the Vice Provost Students inviting you to complete NSSE.
