"There is a lot to navigate as a student and we're here to support you throughout your academic journey. As the Vice Provost, Students I lead a team dedicated to supporting and providing services for students. Across the university are services to help guide and support you through your academic experience (in and outside of the classroom) and it’s all free!

Who we are and what we do

The Division of Students is comprised of many working parts to best serve your needs as a student. Each unit, and the departments within it, are listed below.

York Athletics and Recreation is on a mission to transform the people we touch by leading the creation of a proud engaged campus; dedicating ourselves to excellence; investing in leaders and championing physical activity, sport and wellness. Our mission is to advance York University's mission by providing services, programs and facilities that foster academic success, student development and an engaged community. We support and inspire students to contribute as global leaders.

The Communications & Marketing team serves the Division of Students by creating and delivering strategic, timely, targeted and engaging student-centric messaging.​

The Community Support & Services umbrella of the Division of Students is comprised of the Office of Student Community Relations (OSCR) and The Centre for Sexual Violence Response, Support & Education.

OSCR takes a holistic approach to supporting all students by looking at not only who they are or what supports they require, but how their situation is impacting their overall learning experience. OSCR provides advice, referrals, training, alternate dispute resolution methods, judicial processes (local adjudication, tribunals) and critical incident support. OSCR is also responsible for administering the Code of Student Rights & Responsibilities, which fosters student success by outlining behavioural expectations at York University.

The Centre is committed to fostering a culture where attitudes and behaviours that perpetuate sexual violence are rejected, survivors are supported, community members are educated and those who commit incidents of sexual violence are held accountable. They facilitate support, services and accommodations for those who have experienced sexual violence, based on the needs and wishes of the person disclosing/reporting. Additionally, The Centre offers training and education to the University community -- aimed at preventing sexual violence and improving supports to survivors.

The Office of the University Registrar (OUR) provides student-centered services from their first interaction with the University through to graduation. This includes various supports in areas such as recruitment, admissions, scholarships, financial aid, transcripts, student records, student systems, and graduation.

Organizational Effectiveness supports the Division of Students with direction and oversight of strategic management & planning, financial and human resources management, programmatic effectiveness, and physical resources planning and management for the Division.

The Student Success unit is comprised of the Atkinson Centre for Mature and Part-Time StudentsStudent Accessibility ServicesStudent Community & Leadership Development, Learning Skills & RetentionResidence LifeCentre for Indigenous Student Services and Career Education & Development. Each department is dedicated to supporting diverse groups of students with academic and non-academic services, during various points in their journey at York.

Student Counselling, Health & Well-being offers a range of services including training programs, workshops and peer-to-peer consulting in addition to the services traditionally provided by student counselling services such as walk-in counselling, short-term therapy, emergency support, group counselling, informational sessions and more.

York International is here to assist all international students, as well as domestic and international students who wish to study or work abroad.
