We've implemented a number of inititatives to review and improve your student journey.
We're Listening
Through student advisors and national surveys, we listen to what you have to say about York and our services. The following are some ways we're listening:
Student Advisory Committee (SAC)
The Office of the University Registrar (OUR) is engaging with students to identify opportunities to improve the way we deliver student services.
The Office of the University Registrar (OUR) provides services to all York prospective and current students through recruitment, admissions, all registrarial functions (such as course enrolment, financial aid, managing academic records, student IT systems) through to graduation.
In order to ensure that policies, projects, and services provided at the OUR are reflective of students’ diverse thoughts, ideas and perspectives, we have a Student Advisory Committee (SAC).
The SAC brings together students of diverse backgrounds and experiences to provide a thoughtful and dynamic perspective on matters that impact the student experience at the OUR. The SAC also acts as a resource and focus group for various campus partners and stakeholders.
Together, members will be a collaborative, positive, and rational force for high-quality student services.
Current Initiatives
Division of Students Strategic Plan
We advance York University’s mission by providing services and programs and facilities that foster academic success, student development and an engaged community. Our vision is being partners in student success. We support and inspire students to contribute as global leaders.
Through a collaboration between York’s Division of Students, University Information Technology and our Faculties, guided and informed by our students, York U has partnered with IBM Canada, using the IBM Watson platform, to roll out a virtual assistant technology. This new tool is embedded in eClass (formerly Moodle for Keele students) and on the Current Students website and uses artificial intelligence to communicate with students through a chat interface. The virtual assistant will provide students with help specific to their program, including:
- Where to Find Key Resources
- Academic Advising Referrals
- Registrarial & Financial Services
- Campus Life & Events
- Career Advising Information
- Mental Health & Wellness Resources
- Campus Services
