Our YU START program will help you enrol in courses, meet other students starting at York, learn about important resources, find out about Orientation activities and much more. Take a look at the video below to learn more!
Before enrolling in courses at York, it’s essential to familiarize yourself with the key concepts and tools related to course selection. Once you've completed this step, you will be able to:
- Understand the structure of a degree program, including how credits are organized, how many are required to graduate, and how course load affects full-time or part-time status
- Locate the Undergraduate Calendar to explore your specific program requirements and faculty regulations
- Learn how and when you will begin planning out your first courses at York
- Interpret course codes and academic terminology, including the distinctions between academic year, session, and term, and how these relate to your course planning
- Navigate the York Courses Website, read course descriptions and timetables and identify the catalogue numbers that you will need to enrol
- Plan a variety of draft schedule options using our Visual Schedule Builder tool
TIP: Complete this step prior to your enrolment date so that you’re ready to enrol without delays.
Once you've planned out your courses and your enrolment date arrives, this section will teach you how to:
- Identify and resolve issues that prevent enrolment
- Navigate the Registration and Enrolment Module (REM) to confidently to manage your course selections and schedule
- Perform course enrolment transactions, such as adding and dropping courses, and understand the implications of each action
- Troubleshoot enrolment challenges, including what to do if you are unable to add or drop a course
- Use Plot My Timetable to confirm your final enrolments and view your official schedule
- Learn how to set up academic accommodations if you need them
YU-card is York's official photo identification and campus-wide payment card.
Your YU-card helps you access York's libraries, recreation facilities, food services and dining plans, campus events, discounts and more.
You'll also need to present it at official examinations.
As soon as you have enrolled, getting your YU-card is the next big step!
