Program: 4th Year B.Sc., Hons. Kinesiology & Health Sciences and 1st Year Athletic Therapy Certificate Program
Educational Background: I'm a fourth-year undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Kinesiology & Health Sciences, while also in my first year in the Athletic Therapy Certificate program at York University. I have always been passionate about mentorship, as well as fostering representation and building communities that create spaces where Black students can thrive. I’ve had the amazing opportunity to work in a lead role within the Athletics & Recreation department through Intramurals at York, capturing memories through videos and photography. While advocating community through recreational sport and activities. In my free time, I enjoy the outdoors, sports, singing, and spending time with friends and family.
Future Goals: My future goal is to become a certified Athletic Therapist, and work with professional sports organizations. Further my education with a master's and continue advocating for Black voices within the healthcare field.

Allana Ridgeway
Program: 3rd year Social Work student, minoring in Psychology
Educational Background: I am currently an undergraduate student at York University with a passion for mentorship, advocacy, and supporting underserved communities. Throughout my time at York, I have been involved in peer support and community engagement initiatives, including volunteering with the AYA program and serving as a Peer Mentor with BEYU. As a Student Success Mentor Lead with BEYU, I look forward to continuing to support and empower students throughout their university journey. Outside of school, I enjoy singing, playing piano, reading dystopian and YA novels, and being involved in my church community.
Future Goals: My goal is to complete a Bachelor of Social Work with a minor in Psychology, then pursue a Master of Social Work. I am passionate about working within the prison system to address the systemic issues that lead to the disproportionate incarceration of people of colour, particularly youth, and I hope to contribute to long-term change through policy reform, advocacy, and community-based alternatives focused on prevention, rehabilitation, and restorative justice. I also aspire to open a Christian orphanage that supports at-risk youth, children with special needs, and survivors of abuse and trafficking, providing them with care, education, and a strong community rooted in Christian values.
